Stowe Mountain Resort

Bear Creek Environmental has been conducting water quality monitoring at Stowe Mountain Resort for nearly a decade. The purpose of the monitoring program is to provide information and guidance for water quality protection during and following the construction of the development at Spruce Peak.  Each year, water quality samples are collected under baseflow conditions and during rain/snowmelt events.  Bear Creek Environmental also conducts annual biomonitoring for the resort.

BCE works collaboratively with Stowe Mountain Resort as part of the resort’s extensive erosion prevention sediment control (EPSC) program.  Turbidity monitoring is used to identify sediment sources and target these areas for improvement.

Killington Resort

Bear Creek Environmental has been conducting water quality monitoring at Killington Ski Resort since 2004. As part of the resort’s indirect discharge permit, water quality evaluations are prepared annually to assess surface and groundwater data. Each month, BCE’s staff collects surface water samples from streams in the vicinity of the wastewater disposal systems. These data and groundwater data collected by operators at the wastewater treatment facility are compiled and analyzed for water quality trends.
